ATTENTION:

Cloudy Nights will NEVER send any kind of "official" transaction notification. Cloudy Nights is purely a 3rd party that offers a forum for sellers and buyers to sell equipment. All correspondence will ALWAYS be between the seller and the buyer. Cloudy Nights has NO participation in these transactions nor do we have any kind of "Cloudy Nights transaction account". We only provide the medium (our classifieds section) for which the two parties can interact. If you receive any kind of correspondence that makes claims such as: "CloudyNights.com transaction Approved!", "Cloudy Nights purchase protection" or emails claiming to be the "Cloudy Nights Team"... you can be confident that these are frauds. Bottom line is to use common sense!

Description: Up for sale is a classic 80mm f 15 Sears Discoverer Telescope on a Super Polaris GEM & pier. The OTA comes with the original 6X30 finder and an Antares “hybrid” dielectric diagonal so you can use 1 ¼” eyepiece(s). The lens cell is an adjustable three point push/pull type and the lens is in like new condition with the original lens cover. The scope delivers a textbook diffraction pattern and on stable nights I have easily surpassed the 75X aperture envelope with this scope without image break down. No eyepiece with the scope. The OTA is mounted on a like new Super Polaris GEM (= CG4 GEM) with polar alignment scope & motors on both axes and hand control box. I “hyper tuned” the GEM for visual use but with a little more adjustment the mount can be used for beginning astrophotography. The GEM mates to a very stable, three leg pier (steel & aluminum) with adjustable turnbuckles very similar to those used on ASTRO-PHYSICS piers. Placed a 102mm f11 refractor from Sky-Watcher on the mount this weekend (2012-09-15) and the mouont carried the extra weight without any issues. I also have the original slow-mo manual knobs, hardware & user manual that came with the GEM. This package is the best of the old and the new. I would prefer to sale everything as a unit but I will also sale the OTA and mount separately. Whole package price including shipping $450 - OBO or make me an offer on the parts you are interested in. Accept paypal + 3%, money order, casher check.
