The posts are notched at the top to hold the altitude bearing (bolt). A recent addition (left) is a second aluminum angle bearing support required for binochair users who are not as long in the torso as me. The posts are each attached to the base with 4 bolts which screw into a threaded insert (bolt connector) in the post.
