Saturn Pre-sketch Study#2 for Large Work

Poster: markseibold (see all of this user's photos)
Description: Outside temperature was only at 14 degrees fahrenheit! I roughed in what I could with poor seeing conditions and light wind with unstable air at 3 AM PDT Dec 14 2008. Observed thorugh a 10.1" f/4.5 Dobsonian with a 6mm Orthoscopic eyepiece producing 200 X. I left the image as inverted as observed directly through the
Newtonian reflector. (The 1st image was turned as eye visible.)
This is a smaller preliminary sketch on Strathmore Artagain 9" X 12" black pastel paper as a pre- study for a larger work to be in 19" X 25". Various pastel chalks in cream white, rust and grey. -Mark
