NGC0457 - Owl Cluster
(see all of this user's photos)
||I have been out with this rig only four times, and previously never used a refractor, an EQ mount of any sort, or any astrophotography gear, short of a few pics holding my DSLR up to the eyepiece on my dob... The pics are unprocessed short of what ever color converting happens using the software that came with the cameras... (no photo shop type of manipulation...)|
Except for Andromeda which was taken at the club observatory, the pics were taken from a park in the town where I live (Bettendorf, Iowa) which is afflicted with quite a bit of light pollution from the surrounding cities... and with a full moon...
I am pretty happy with my rig so far... it will really help when I get my guiding system (SBIG ST-i color )... and I am going to concentrate on learning the gear and software and in getting good exposures before I start to learn the photo processing piece...
These are using the Explore Scientific TED127075-CF Triplet APO Refractor, the Orion Atlas EQ-G mount (unguided), and the SBIG ST8300c Color CCD... all ordered on 10/18/11
01/10/12 ( 98% moon) Flame was ten 120 second shot
01/09/12 (100% moon) Orion is a single 120 second shot
01/10/12 ( 98% moon) Owl Cluster sixteen 10 second shot
01/09/12 (100% moon) Pleiades was ten 120 second shot
12/18/11 ( 45% moon) Andromeda was a single 300 second shot
01/10/12 ( 98% moon) Double Cluster sixteen 10 second shot
(I hope my conversion to jpg worked ok)
