Should be interesting how the SSA aligns this setup..

From your signature I gather that this must be your C8HD Evolution on a Meade tripod and wedge?
You are hauling it around in three pieces? What is the weight of the heaviest piece?

But with the meade wedge...its a little un balanced to carry it all...
So I take the scope off...and carry the wedge, tripod and evolution mount, with no problem...
The scope to mount fast and quick....
I don't know the total weight,,,but the wedge is about 8 lbs...
So ? 35-40 total.....but you should not move it far with the wedge setup..IMHO..
I want to try this to check field rotation...not...lol
Meade Wedge,Celestron Tripod,Evoultion,SSA,C8HD,MC DSc,F4
OBTW the setup is SELF aligning...with StarSense auto align...very cool..
Yes C8HD....(so dslr works too)

My new setup is pretty amazing (even if I say so myself!)
- revolution imager system with:
- LN300 PAL with UTC board and remote
- 12v battery pack to power the camera
- .5x focal reducer
- ES AR102mm achromat refractor
- Celestron AVX mount
I really enjoy the accuracy of the goto and the tracking of the avx mount and the wide view from the refractor, can almost fit all of M31 onto the frame of the LN300.

My setup isn't [yet] particularly interesting to look at: bone stock Evolution 8" SCT with Mallincam SkyRaider DSc mounted straight into the back. The whole thing has all of one (1) cable, USB from the camera to a Microsoft Surface 3 Pro. SkySafari Pro on an iPad to control the scope.
Instead, here is a picture of the method used to convey it all down the street to a park a few blocks away, which is a little more unique. OTA in an old Kelty Redwing backpack, messenger bag for camera, laptop, iPad, Celestron case for eyepieces (aka analog backup), filters, MFR-8 focal reducer, etc. I keep the mount on the tripod, which is stabilized by using the packing foam that it shipped with in the bottom of the cart, the feet are seated in cutouts so it doesn't flop around.
I wouldn't want to travel too far like this, but its quick and easy, and compatible with having a couple of glasses of wine with dinner before heading out
