Here are some screen captures I got last night using the LN300 PAL camera that I purchased on eBay for $69 and free shipping.  The only mod I made was a remote based on CCS's DIY post.  I am using a Meade 8" SCT at about F4 and a Baader UV/IR cut filter.  The last image of M16 is with a narrow band Ha filter.  All images are either at 128 or 256x (2.5 or 5 seconds) with the DNR at 5 and AGC set to low. The camera proves itself to be a solid entry level EAA cam.  I suspect using it with some live stacking software would make it even better.  There were no dark frames or post processing used for these.

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions.

Finally a clear sky had arrived last night.  Here are shots obtained with LN300 PAL on 6"F5 Newt.  Some of them were taken with a home made 2" reducer (x0.5).  The file names will tell the values of sens-up and number of stacks (move your cursor over the picture displayed).  I was on-the-fly stacking them with AstroVideo.

Excellent, Paul!  That stacking really helps.  That's my next step with the LN300.  Any chance you have a single to show the difference stacking makes?

Perhaps you could show the difference with an example in the LN300 thread.

Don

The PAL version and stacking really pulls in the objects Paul. Nice work.

Yes, the more I use the PAL version, the more I like.  It is now limited by the sky and equipment, at lease for me.

Thank, Dwight!

Transparency was above average, (still not the best for my area) so we wanted to get some slightly wider field shots in.  The first two were shot with my C8@f4.2- Idas LPS - MallinCam X2 and the rest were shot same equipment except f3.3.  So here are some unprocessed desktop images taken while b'casting on NSN.

Thanks Submission,

No not really.  I'm just inside a red zone the f4.2 images were on a day where I had mag 5.1 skies and the rest were on a day of mag 4.9-5.0.

I look to a white zone to my SE-S and to my N-E a red zone.

Had very clear skies last night.  The moon was fairly bright, so decided to go with the mono Lodestar and narrowband Ha filter.  Sought out some interesting targets and thought I would share.  Used my wide field 50mm mini and my trusty M8 at F4.5.  All images are captures during viewing and have no post processing.  All adjustments were done on the fly with Lodestar Live software.

Hi DonBoy, Great images. I still think Mallincam leads in color nebulae images. My Sony A7s is great on galaxies, but nebulae are bright red.

Nice captures Don, that 50mm scope is really producing some good results. Inspired by your work, I am planning to get my 60mm f3.75 finder/guider into action with the Lodestar and possibly Ha filter. Hoping for some good things.

Don these Ha images are very nice.  I like it that you left them as b&w and didn't colorize them.

Thanks, Rob.  You will enjoy the Lodestar and NB Ha filter.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Don.  I find the mono shows much more detail.  The color NB Ha images I posted in previous posts were taken with a color Lodestar.  My color LS is in for repair right now, but I prefer the mono anyway.  Color is pretty, but the structure apparent in some of these nebulae really stands out with the mono even with the lower res LS sensor.
