In the interest of promoting safe astronomy, any discussion of lasers or modules above 5mW is strictly forbidden on the CN forums.

Our decision is based on current safety research done on laser pointers by the US FDA. Using the guidelines suggested by this research, discussion on this forum of lasers as pointers and telescope aiming devices is limited to those having no more than 5mW output power in the visible wavelength range from 400-710 nanometers.

Any discussion or posts linking to lasers or modules above 5mW will be subject to Moderator's removal. This includes links to sites that sell or distribute laser pointers/modules >5mW.

Terms of Service:

The following clause has been added to the Terms of Service under the heading Practicing Safe Astronomy:

Quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In the interest of promoting safe astronomy, any discussion of lasers and modules above 5mW is strictly forbidden on the CN forums. This includes links to sites that openly sell or distribute laser pointers and modules above the 5mW limit. Such posts and links will be subject to immediate removal.

Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated!
