On the 1st CN Int Sun day there were some moments of exquisite seeing that resolved the proms into minute tendrils. However, they were all about 7-8 minutes before the fixed times!! This view at 1000Ut had good seeing that allowed a 5mm ep. Some of the structure was faint and elusive. That's Pete on the left holding the proms steady for his exposures.

Fantastic as always! You'll wear that pencil out Les. That prom has been changing really fast all day hasn't it. I've got every half hour covered from 08:30 so far.

I took a break after 1130UT - The black hood (silver on the outside was quite cool) but the pencils were starting to melt. Maybe later this afternoon.

Here is another montage including Patricia's & Sol's images .

This prom has more changes than a backing dancer for the Spice Girls.

Same here, been imaging since 10am, but alternating between CaK, PST80 and SF70..(just for fun)

Should be posting later today..

Great ...nay superb sketches..

Pete has sorted his pixels (pencils are faster!) and his and all the other fine work is now on this single montage. Yell if I've missed you out.

Hi Les,

Thanks for all the work you've put in on this. You know, up against an image there's no where to hide and you've proved, yet again, just what a fantastic sketcher you are. Your renditions are very accurate indeed and that's something to be really proud of in my book.

As for the other's - a fantastic job everyone! Mark - I sensed you were worried about the afocal contribution but I hope the montage Les has put up has convinced you of it's worth.

Greg's fantastic image at 15:30 shows the evil penguin about which more later...

It's been a fantastic day and many thanks to everyone. There will still be some images to add (where's Nick!) so please keep them coming. We really chose the most awkward and strangely changing prom that we could find! We must do it again (but maybe not tomorrow!!). Pete - You must be immensely relieved to find that your equipment works OK  :roflmao:. But seriously, it does relieve me that sketches can have a nodding resemblance to reality. Maybe at liesure you can pm me your images because it will be very educational to study them in detail.

Terrific day and a great idea. Thanks to Pete for organising and Les for the superb montage. While I was a bit wary of including the afocals because of their lack of resolution it is nice to see how they fit into the sequence and to be able to compare what people are seeing with different equipment. I agree that we should do something like this again!

Regards
Mark

Here is the montage updated 1911UT 7May. It's gone over the CN file size limit so it is in two pieces. Sorry Pete, exhaustion set in so some of your images are still in black and white.
