I have opportunity to purchase a TV tripod (no mount).

What mounts are being used, besides the TV upswing, with this tripod?
Thanks!

If the tripod can be fitted a 3/8" stud, then any alt/az head with 3/8" thread will work. This conversion kit seems allow such a mod, though specified for a Telepod, it could allow for other types of alt/az heads to work with that tripod.

Thanks Jim,
I was unaware of the conversion kit. I will look into it.

Could anyone comment back that has tried or seen this conversion kit in action ?

I put a Takahashi Teegul Lapides mount on my Gibraltar tripod with no problem. I removed the 3/8-16 bolt from the Gibraltar head, threaded it into the bottom of the Tak mount, and tightened it from below with the TV hardware. Fits like a glove. If you need the long 3/8" bolt, you can buy the 3/8" stock from a hardware store - usually comes in three foot lengths for about three bucks.
