I've had it out twice now, and will also have a few hours tonight with it, if the high thin clouds blow through. :fingerscrossed:

Tips so far. Level it carefully and use a crosshair eyepiece to center alignment stars for best DSC accuracy. Balance the OTA carefully and take the time to understand the counterweight system for smoothest panning and manual tracking.

Stuff I'd dig: A longer panhandle with a beefier ergonomic grip. A massive version of the same mount design with 2.5" or even 3" stainless steel shafts, capable of handling (and counterbalancing) a C14 OTA and accessories.

Regards,

Jim

Next, the contents.

I still feel the 900GTO has the best proportions of all the white mounts (900, 1200, 1600 and 3600). A work of art IMO.

Jeff, there appears to have been a major mix-up. You see, it looks like I received your mount and you received mine. I'll send *your* DSV-3 and you can forward *my* AP900. Glad we were able to sort it out!

AP900 is my fave, too. I'll be sad to see the wonderful etched setting circles go the way of the dinosaurs with the AP1100.

I'd really like a pristine AP900 QMD as my "home" mount. I really miss using accurate analog setting circles.

Nice mount Jeff. Last of a breed and end of an era.

Hey PJ, is the G-9 basically a GM-8 head on a G-11 tripod?

Thanks!

Jim Very nice mount, Jeff this goes without saying! APs Rock.

Any thing I seem to do takes a while on the Pearl. Just finished the permanent piers paint and welding and doing some finishing touches on the OTA,, I think she is looking rather majestic. Next stop "More Anodizing" after I finalize some machining on the GSRs.. :roflmao:

My AVX adapted to fit my AP tripod. It's doing a great job of carrying my 105 Traveler :waytogo:

I'm still using my 1964 Starliner. I added a home-brew clock drive and declination tangent arm.

My setup: Soligor SkyView mount (same as Orion Skyview Deluxe) on a dumpy level tripod. The tripod is a MOM (Magyar Optikai M├╝vek - Hungarian Optical Works), and is very massive.

ngc2289 , dennilfloss, Mike E. thanks :)

The mount is not yet fixed to the tripod, I just put it on top. My father will make a round platform which fits in the hole of the tripod, and the top side will be the same as the original tripod's.
