Wow, what a view! Seems a shame to put a fence in front of it.

Just your standard Losmandy HD tripod with AP adapters, it works great.

The mount evolution went like this; the Polaris became the Super Polaris, then the SP became the Great Polaris, and finally the GP became the Great Polaris 2. I think the Polaris is rated for 10 pounds.

There was also a New Polaris in the mix; looked a lot like the Polaris but had a tilted elevation fork like the Super Polaris.

I just finished building this 12" half pillar for my Porta II, the tripod itself is very tall so I'm thinking about cutting it down so it's a little bit more portable. As it sits the legs only need to be extended 4" if at all.

Well, I have a new "mount", and a new "OTA"...
Posted to the CATS forum, but hey.... The Mount needs its own "view area"...

The pier is from my prior setup. There is a big chunk of concrete below that base... The old setup was an LX200 (8") set on the steel top plate in Alt/AZ, with the 80mm mounted piggy-back.

I got the "Dan's Pier Top Plates" for the CGEM, and added an extra "base plate" for this high rise. That seems to be working VERY WELL !!! Dan makes some good stuff !!

The CGEM is standard (and brand new), added the ADM "side-by-side", and of course the new Edge HD (8").

Got it all polar aligned, and cameras aligned and focused. Now hoping for some good skies tonight, and first "official" light...

Here is my simple, light weight "grab and go" mount:

* Manfrotto 055XPROB Pro Tripod
* Manfrotto 460MG Magnesium Camera Head

with Canon 60Da and Canon TC80N3 Timer Remote Control.

This was taken today at the Timberline Lodge, Mt. Hood, Oregon.

Hey guys. I just got my new mount (Porta II) yesterday but haven't got the chance to test it yet due to cloud cover.

So smooth. I'm loving it. :)

My ZEQ25 has arrived! With the scope and power-weight on it, I can still carry the entire setup.

This is my micro grab and push-to system. I made it since i get to use it much more often than before when everything was big and heavy. Components: Sirui cf tripod, Tecnosky elle alt-az mount, Fujinon 10x50 binoculars, Outdoorsmans binocular adapter, Green laser pointer, Samsung galaxy S3 running SkEye planetarium. I had to make a custom holder for the smartphone. I constructed it on a computer and it was laser cut from 8mm acrylic glass. They didn't have black in stock so it is transparent.... Pointing precision of SkEye planetarium is great for the wide field binoculars, but is not rivaling encoders yet. I am very happy with this modest setup.
