Within just a few feet of a sketch done quite a while ago ( old sketch ), I gathered a few friends to watch the moon rise. The orange slit brought the oooo's and ahhhhh's but the rapid rise brought more comments. It's always a treat to catch the rise with some newbies that have never really aimed to deliberately catch it before. The next day I sketched the scene from memory.

Roland,

Wonderful sketch. I watched a moonset from the San Gabriel mtns back in the spring of 1990. Your wonderful sketch brought me back there. :waytogo:

Thanks Frank and Tommy. I just don't get tired of seeing them. I am afraid I would stop a car, stop walking, or whatever to see one. Roland

Roland

Beautiful rendering!   Your foreground touches add great depth and a sense of impressionistic realism to the scene.

I have taken many photos of moonrise/moonsets, sunrise/sunsets but there is something about a hand sketched rendering that says so much more.

Roland,

That's a beautiful moment, captured in a sketch.

Very enjoyable. :rainbow:

Roland,

A beautiful observation of the Moon rising over the San Gabriel Mountains through your binoculars. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Carlos
