I recently bought from a friend, a SW Mak127 with an EQ3 mount and Vixen type dovetail. Since I wanted a lighter mount, I sold the EQ3 and bought the SW AZ3 alt/azimuth mount for the Mak127. But I encountered a problem:

The Vixen type of dovetail does not match the AZ3 mount head. Ther friend who sold me the mount has the same Mak127 on the same AZ3. But he has the scope attached to the AZ3 mount with a different kind of Dovetail or Bracket. He lent it to me and I tried it on and it works. Well after I drilled 2 holes wider on the mount head to match the 2 holes on this rare dovetail/bracket. My friend of course needs this dovetail/bracket back otherwise he can't use his scope and he doesn't remember where he got it. He said it might be an OTA Bracket. So I'm posting some pictures of the dovetail/bracket, the Mak125 and the AZ3 mount... and I'm asking for help. Anyone knows what model this is and where to buy it?

Thanks.

I have the same mount as yours but a Vixen version.

I just bought a set of rings to fit my scope and attached the rings to the holes in the Alt/Az mount. Might be an option to think about instead of trying to find a rare bracket or dovetail.

Whatever you decide, good luck and I hope you enjoy your new set up.

ScopeStuff sells an EQ3 to vixen dovetail adapter, should fit right onto your mount head.
Then pick up a short vixen style dovetail (ScopeStuff has these too) with plenty of bolt options and bolt it right onto your OTA.

I have considered the rings, was trying to avoid them for weight and balance reasons.
I will look into scopestuff. By the way I've tried to phone them, at many different hours from Portugal and I always get the voice-mail. Anyone knows why?

Did you get anywhere with this one?

I could use one of those az3 dovetail brackets too!

Cheers,

I mounted a wood block sized to fit on my AZ3, then mounted the dovetail with rings to it. Works fine, no cost. Painted the block black, and it blends right in.
