Anyone know if the RA gearing for these two GEMS is the same ?

ie 144:1 (10min per wormwheel rotation on 1x siderial rate) .

If so is the dual axis controller for the CG4 (part no.93522) identical in operation to that for the non-goto CG5 (part no.93523) ?

I want to track down a spare 93523 (or clone/equivalent) that is fully functional that I can modify to add an interface to a Skyshoot Autoguider.

Alternatively , does anyone know if the Orion True-Track Dual-Axis Electronic Drive controller is compatible ?

Ian,

No. CG4 (EQ3-2) has a different worm ratio than CG5 (EQ4/EQ5) RA worm's 144:1.

Thanks CCS

I suspected that was the case re CG4.

Will see if I can solve the problem with the old controller , bit of luck my old mate in the electrical engg dept lab can help out with testing it to id the source of the problem.
