Will the Orion SkyView Pro Telescope Mount Extension work on a CG4? I have a bad left knee and I could really use the extra height when observing near zenith.

As far as I can tell, the newer 1.75 inch CG4 tubular tripod and the SVP are the same tripod. So I would say yes...

Bob, I'm running the 16" Orion pier extension on my old school CG-4 and it works just fine.

I did some digging - you have an Astro Telescopes 102mm f/11 on yours! That scope the reason I really NEED an extension. I was out tonight with my rig and spent half the night sitting on the ground trying to look at targets near zenith. If I wasn't on a paved surface, I'd have a major case of soggy butt...

I don't mind the idea of using a step stool for targets closer to the horizon, but I'll be damned if I wind up sitting in the snow come winter.

It definitely fits my CG-4. Mine is the newer version (the one that comes with the Omni XLT line of telescopes).

I got my extension the other day from Orion and was able to use it this evening - What a huge difference. Best $$$ spent is a long time!

And if all this wasn't enough, just let me add, Yes, It Fits.

My feelings exactly. The extra height at the eyepiece makes all the difference in the world.
