Dear observers,

this night I had the chance to have a long look at the waning moon. Eventually I decided to sketch crater Janssen and surroundings. I used my 12 cm f/6 refractor @ 112x with dark green filter.

Uwe,

Great sketch. This really is a fun and interesting ancient crater to sketch. I really like the way you handled this old crater and all the more recent ones that came in on top of it.  :rainbow:

A nice rendition, Uwe. I especially like your careful attention to how the shadow details appeared. With your 12cm reflector, a filter of some sort is a must with the moon! My eyes get watery just thinking of viewing the moon with such a scope and no filter.

Jay,

I used this instrument because it is light. In the easter direction some trees hinder the view to the sky and I had to wander with my scope und to adjust the tripod.

Uwe

Very nice field sketch of the crater Jannsen with environs receding in light at the waning phase.   I really like the range of shading that you use and how you keep it loose and improvised appearing as at ease, never strained.

I also appreciate your having to "wander" with the telescope as I have had this problem many times. Oregon too has much in heavily covered terrain in trees.

Uwe,

An excellent observation of Janssen. This is a complex and interesting crater. Thank you for sharing it with us all.
