I think I caught a bit of dark detail along the edge.

Most people say M78 isn't much to look at, but it's one of my favorite objects. I guess it's just overshadowed by other nearby nebulae.

Very nice sketch. It is one of those objects you need to spend some time with as you did here. I agree with you it is much overlooked but very impressive. :cool: :bow: :waytogo:

Fine sketch, and indeed of an overlooked object! M78 is one of my priority objects. Somehow, this nebula captivates me and I quite hope to sketch it soon - should my urban skies allow it.
