The sky finally cleared up after the storm, so I did some sketches. First is Jupiter and a slim moon shining on the freshly fallen snow.

Last is Orion's head, which is actually a star cluster.

TenthEnemy,

Excellent sketches, the first one gives a hint about all the snow that fell in the Eastern states. The moon and Jupiter look great. The other sketches are very stary.

TenthEnemy,

I just love your first sketch! The branches on the conifer are wonderful as are the bear branches on the deciduous tree. Jupiter and the waxing crescent are wonderful additions that really provide a hint of what the real targets are. Wonderful! I also like the light and dark contrast in the snow.

I also enjoyed your two clusters. I missed this last week and so tonight I felt like I was ready to go out and the fog came in so thanks for posting these. Its nice to get view what others have been doing.

Nice sketches, especially the naked eye sketch. Did you work with coloured paper?

Thank you all for the comments. The sketch of the moon is pastel chalk on black paper and the other two are graphite on white paper.

TE,

An excellent set of observations of the Crescent Moon and Jupiter over a snowy landscape, Hyades, and the head of Orion (cluster). You have captured the snow at nighttime very nicely. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Carlos
