Dear observers,

today we have clear and quite steady sky in Germany. So I had the chance to sketch Mars for the first time in this season.
The meridian is nearly 90° which is a quite uninteresting area. You can find hints of M. Tyrrhenum and of course the norther polar cap.
I used my 6" Mak@144x. The polar cap could be seen more easily with a blue filter. An orange filter helped not much for showing the surface details more distinct. My wife enjoyed the polar cap too, but saw no detail else.

Uwe,

Very nice Mars rendition. You will get more chances I'm sure to view and sketch all sides. :bow: :cool:

Nice drawing, shame you saw the uninteresting side - look forward to seeing more drawings from you.

Join the Mars-sketch-club here on CN! My first sketch was also the "bad" side. It will make the "good" side even more impressing next time, believe me.

Nice first sketch of Mars.

You are seeing more detail than I am becuase I have not observed Mars yet this season. Every time I see it in the sky I am in town without my scope. When at home, it clouds over and rains! );

I did not know that there is a Mars sketch forum as Jef mentioned.

Uwe,

Congratulations on your first observation of Mars for the apparition. I hope that you enjoy good seeing to be able to see more detail over Mars. I look forward to your future observations.

Off course there's no seperate Mars sketch forum here on CN! But because half of the posts are Mars sketches... it looks like the CN sketch forum is a Mars sketch forum for the moment!
