I just acquired a new Celestron CG-5 GT mount. It comes with a cigarette lighter plug for car battery operation.

I have a "Vector START-IT Elite Jump-Start System. Vector VEC012C 12 Volt DC Power Supply. 450 AMP Instant" with a place on it to plug in a cigarette lighter type plug.

Is this an appropriate power source for the Celestron mount?

I must admit that I am a little paranoid about polarity issues. Can I trust polarity matches from the cigarette lighter port to the Celestron mount?

Thank you in advance for your reply.

Yep, that should work quite nicely.

My Vector 450 lasted me for 34 months. I work for an automotive dealer and this pack was used by me, the new car dept.,the used car dept. and anyone else who needed it! Some days it got quite a workout. I observe at home 3 to 4 times a week and go away to dark sites 2 to 3 week ends a month. This pack served me well and I just replaced the battery in it about 2 weeks ago. I upgraded the battery to a higher AH and a deepcycle type. It performs even better than before and I expect to have it for a long long time.
