The highlights du jour were 2 very large and complex sets of prominences dancing on opposite sides of the disk...Even with many areas of plage on the disk, the proms stood out...

Crayola Cerulean pencil for plage
Crayola Aqua Green pencil for proms
I used a light blue pencil for the filaments today(failure, never again)
White 20# paper
I scan into photoshop and invert.

Stephen,

A very impressive observation of spectacular prominences. It must have been a sight to see through your PST. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Stephen

Thanks for your excellent sketches of the prominences    as you inspired me to finally break out my Coronado h-alpha telescope from storage to take a look at the sun. Although I waited till a little too late in the day, I saw the considerable sized prominences and some surface plage on the sun for the first time since mid 2008. I made some rough field sketches and may post them later.

Stephen,

Wonderful sketching. The white on black looks great but there is much to be said for your work in color. :waytogo:
