This afternoon I could have a look at the sun. The AR 11051 look very promising. I add a little sketch, done with my 8 cm spotting scope at 60x.

How did you draw the white areas in the close-up? First completely grey and than the eraser?

An excellent observation of the solar disk and AR 11051. You have drawn the sunspot group very nicely. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

How did you draw the white areas in the close-up? First completely grey and than the eraser?


I sketched at first the large grey areas, but left the bright areas out - as ovale patches. At last I added teh "bumps" witn en eraser-pencil.
