I was able to view the Waxing Gibbous Moon (11.8 days old) and Mars (-0.69m) approximately five degrees apart on February 26, 2010 (02:00 U.T.). The sight was impressive with the sharp Moon and a reddish-orange beacon nearby. I hope that others were able to view this pairing as well.

Carlos,

This is a wonderful capture. I was out admiring this same view at about the same time. This is really a perfect match to my view. It really does help one to see the orange color of Mars when it contrasts with the grey and white of the moon. Beautiful work Carlos, you make it look easy. :rainbow:

Enjoyable sketch, Carlos. My wife and I enjoyed it for a few minutes last night as we returned from a meeting. Glad you caught it. I wanted to catch it setting over the Blue Ridge, but we had clouds at that time.

Thank you all very much for the kind compliments on my Moon and Mars observation. It was an impressive sight to see the pair close together in the dark Winter sky. I am glad that my Moon rendering came out accurately. The best of luck in your own observations.
