M48 - open cluster in Hydra.
Family with 80 stars.
1500 ly away from us.
Object with 24 ly diameter.

I find that cluster very interesting:
- big letter "L" shape easy can be seen.
- seems to me - stars, that forms that "L" are blown away by a bright yellow (K0) star ...

What drama there was once?

S1mas,

Wonderful sketch. Great work on positioning stars and getting the relative magnitudes so close.
These sketches of yours are a pleasure to look at. :rainbow:

Simas,

An excellent observation of a beautiful open cluster in Hydra. You have captured the glow of this stunning cluster very nicely. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

I know this is an older post, but I just saw this sketch and I think it is awesome. Honestly I can't remember viewing this cluster yet(still working on the Messiers), but you have just put it at the top of my to do list. Nice work!
