We used a 4 inch refractor with the MCHC+ video to feed a screen image of the Flame Nebula about 100 feet to a place between my little sketch desk and my wife's recliner. This way she can enjoy the scenes when she is not up to going out. On this particular evening, the color and dark lanes on the nebula were pretty easy to see although the object was a little low in the sky and in the midst of some low altitude murkiness. This is where the video really helps, so the integration over 28 seconds dutifully adds the photons and sends them to the screen (a little HDTV). So for 40 minutes I grabbed the sketch and my wife enjoyed the view.

The story and sketch can be found on the site (address under my signature) via the Inspiration Button on the Home Page. It is the top left story on the Inspiration Page; hit the "whole story' to find the sketch and story.

Clear skies.

Thanks Frank. It was a surprise to get that much with a 4 inch but it was fun. Glad you enjoyed the story.

Roland,

Wonderful lesson and terrific sketch. Very nice read on a night with 2 new inches of snow outside. Made my spiced cider more enjoyable, thank you!
