This was my first lunar drawing I made but did not want to render it until I had learnt a few tips with simpler (later) sketches the following nights. Now decided to give this one a crack. I love Copernicus - to me it is what a lunar crater should be - mysterious at times; highly visible at others and always something new to consider.

Hope you like it

Chris,

Copernicus is a young complex crater that has just about everything you would expect to see in a crater of its size.
You sketch of it is wonderful, showing its high rim, inner terraces, central peaks and floor shadow. Only the rays are missing and you can't see those at such a low sun angle. So your excellent sketch has all there is to see.
Nice work on the 3-D depth too.  :rainbow:

Nice sketch! Copernicus looks always very interesting in the telescope, but I never dare to put it on paper. To complex for me.

Chris,

An outstanding observation of Copernicus. This is a complex crater to render and you have done an admirable job at it. Thank you for sharing it with us all.
