Hello everyone,

I Just found a sketch of Fornax galaxy cluster I made several months ago. I didn't put a date or time on it and completely forgot when it was made :p

Anyway it's a really impressive object, with a lot of galaxies in a small place (well sort of) :)

Details:
Pencil sketch on a white paper (inverted),
Telescope: Orion skyview pro 8" with 25mm Sirius plossl.
Location: Negev desert in Israel.

I would really like to have a feedback on the sketch brigthness. I just looked at it on a different monitor (CRT) and figured that it's really dim, and I can hardly see the galaxies. On other hand on my notebook's LCD it's actually brighter then I'd wanted it to be.

Michael,

An excellent observation of the Fornax Galaxy Cluster. An impressive collection of galaxies in that part of the heavens. The brightness of the background and galaxies looks fine on my monitor although you may want to darken it a little according to your view at the time. I have darkened the background by approximately twenty percent (20%). How do you like it compared to the original? Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Carlos

Michael,

Beautiful sketch. The galaxies look just right. Not too bright or too faint. I keep my 6 year old LCD monitor settings idealized for sketches.

Frank :)

Terrific sketch, Michael! I'm going to have to check out this cluster for myself sometime.

Cool! I hope to hit it with my 10" reflecter soon, after it comes above the horizon.

Thanks everyone.

And thanks Carlos for the comment. Actually on some computers I see the 1st image as the better one, and on some - the one you posted. Guess I'll have to compromise.

You do some truly exquisite deepsky drawings. Theres a true subtelty that marks that ethereal quality deep sky views often have and you nail it quite well.

Great website portfolio.

Hi Michael11,

The Fornax Galaxy Cluster sketch is awesome. I checked out your other sketches as well. You sketch very well. The detail you captured is pretty amazing in all of them. Good job!!

Clear Skies,
Navid
