Quick sketch of the rising full Moon in twillight

Driving back from work last night (just after 9pm) I saw the full Moon rise above the east horizon. I just looked so beautiful! The disk seemed enormous and the soft white light was barely brighter than the background brightness. It just hung there with its top side in the blue and the bottom side still in the milky fog on the horizon. A beautiful sight that I just HAD to sketch!
Of course I didn't have any pastels or pencils with me, so I rushed home. I pulled a piece of blue cardboard out of the dustbin (it's all I could find) and made this very quick sketch of what I remembered. It took 15 minutes to complete.
Original sketch size 8"x 6"

Very nice sketch (lunar and landscape), I like the way you captured the hazyness along your horizon.

A beautiful impressionistic sketch of the moonrise!
You've captured that ethereal quality of the elusive summer moonlight.
I’ve been thinking about doing a new moon sketch for some time now.
You may have inspired me to attempt this again soon.
Thanks for sharing your image and the story,

A beautiful and well executed observation of the Full Moon in twilight. You have captured the translucent appearance of the Moon as the night approaches. Thank you for sharing it with us all.
