After several attempts at this I finely did one that I wasn’t completely embarrassed to post.

I was looking for a simple target near the terminator. However, Patavious and its companions Palitzch and Hase to the left of view caught my eye. With the changing light , this was the most detail I could capture. My hat goes off to you guys who do this regularly and quite well.

Jim,

That is a *very* nice first-time lunar sketch--Petavius is a complex target. You captured the central peak nicely, too. :waytogo:

Thank you.
I knew lunar sketching was going to be very difficult. But until you try , You just dont know. I hope to improve my technique a lot.

Jim,

An excellent first (and even compared to more experienced observers) observation of Petavius. You have captured the walls and rille of one of my favorite craters very nicely. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Thank you everyone. There was still so much more detail that I couldnt capture. I realy appreciate how much detail many of you get -in an all to short opportunity. Speaking of which : Carlos, that is one awesome rendering.

Very good for a first sketch! My first attempts were much more clumsy.

Jim,

This is an excellent sketch of crater Petavius and its immediate surroundings.
Keep up the fine work.
Practice to perfection.
Remember if you are pleased that is what counts.

Frank :)
