Hi,

To understand my enthusiasm for this object NGC 6712 you should know I live at latitude of +55 and the region around Scutum and Sagittarius is only visible and above horizon in the months June August. Unfortunately in this season the sky doesn't get completely dark and observations are only possible for about two-three hours from dusk till dawn. This cluster appears faint and of even brightness, about 5' in diameter. It is only slightly brighter toward the middle. About 10 stars were scattered around the center and well resolved. Maybe some more with averted vision. Hope you like my sketch!

Mikael,

An excellent observation of NGC 6712 in Scutum. This is an interesting globular cluster that often gets overlooked due to the spectacular M11 (Wild Duck) open cluster nearby. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Thanks for all kind word! I'm very glad you like my sketches.Yes, I agree M11 spectacular!! But during this observation I spend my time observing only global clusters. You know there are lot of them in Sagittarius region and they are only visible and above horizon in the months June August here in north.

Mikael
