Greetings all!

Here are some disk drawings I made on 23-24th August, 2010. The seeing was absolutely superb. As well as the many fine details on the disk there was also some interesting satellite phenomena; Io and it's shadow transited the disk, and Ganymede passed into Jupiter's shadow.

Alas, I had to finish at around 0200UT as we were filming the Sky at Night the next evening, but I managed to get plenty of transit times and intensity estimates. There were times when Jupiter looked like a photo in the eyepiece

Most interestingly, I was speaking with Pete Lawrence and Damian Peach and it seems they also experienced wonderful seeing conditions in Selsey.

Best wishes,
-Paul.

Paul,

Outstanding observations of Jupiter under excellent seeing conditions. You were able to record an impressive amount of detail over the disk of Jupiter. The colors are spot on and appear to glow in your fine observations. The transit of Io must have been a sight under these excellent seeing conditions. My weather has been poor lately and I have been unable to observe. Thank you for sharing then with us all. I look forward to your future observations. My best to Sir Patrick and all other dedicated observers/imagers of the English isle.
