Here are my sketches of NGC 6543 - The Cats Eye Nebula, NGC 7662 - The Blue Snowball, and NGC 1501. Under 200X, they all showed considerable detail, and they were quite bright. NGC 1501 was probably the faintest though. I think I'll try again tonight at NGC 1501, along with IC 289, and a few other nebulas and galaxies I didn't have enough time to look at (it was a school night) .

Nice sketches Brandon! Did you detect any color in 6543 or 7662? The color shows up best at lowest power.

Brian,

Outstanding observations of a variety of planetary nebula. You have captured them all very nicely, including the faint extensions over the Cat Eye Nebula. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Thank you for the kind comments, and hbanich, I did detect color in both NGC 6543, but mostly in NGC 7662. They're both very bright and take magnification well.

Brandon,

All fine sketches of these planetary nebulae.
Were you able to see the central star in the Cat's Eye?

Frank :)

Thank you for the kind compliment! I don't remember ever seeing the central star, and I didn't include it in my sketch. What Magnitude is it? Maybe I could try for it tonight if it's clear.
