Just picked up one of these classics for my first equatorial mount. It includes a Quartz 784 RA drive. I didn't get a manual with it and can't seem to find one online. Anyone out there own this mount who wouldn't mind answering a few basic questions?

Thanks for the link, GSO. I'll check it out. The seller just emailed me that he found the manual and is going to send it to me as a PDF, which should help too.

This was a short lived model 1996 that put the 2080 SCT on a very nice Mizar (Hino Metal Specialities) German mount. Quartz Drive and DSCs were options. Uncle Rod claims Celestron introduced the C8-SP as a response to the 2080GEM.

Meade didn't sell many and they are rare. OTOH Celestron still sells a successor model.

I hate to resurrect a dead thread, but does anyone know of a source for a manual for this mount?

Hi,

Came across this post in my search for more info on this mount. From what I can find, Meade used these in the 1980's and I believe they were made by Mizar? Does anyone have any info. on these old Gems? I just purchased one but no manual and not much info about it. I need to find a nice wooden tripod for it and an RA motor that I could make work on the mount. Any info. would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Martin
