This isn't the thread for new auction/CL ads.  Have patience, it will be back soon.  Thanks!

The proper thread for posting new or current ads and listings is back up.  Let's keep them out of this one.

Thanks!

Very odd indeed.  ;)   A "sculpture" bearing a W. Ottway & Co. Ltd. marine telescope 1915 label with a whimsical compass dial on the altitude axis.  Another unconvincing replica--but from an exporter in China rather than India.

If it were authentic I might say, "dollars, mind you, not even pounds!"

If either the scope or mount could talk ... they might say something along the lines of "...kill me now..."  :wow:   It's one of those ads I had to save a copy of the pics for future reference.  Text description is an interesting read as well.

It looks like the body tube of a monocular microscope with the coarse focus carriage and an eyepiece.  The name looks like Wetzlar, so it might have been made by E. Leitz, Wetzlar.

"Droop" is a Freudian slip.

It refers to what happens when you can no longer lock its dec axis - and Meade no longer stocks the needed parts....
