I think I remember seeing lenses like this for sale a year or so back.

It's definitely an interesting scope. If I encountered it at a star party, I'd be the first in line to see how it performs.

Just saw this (playing catchup).  I also have one of those NIB, and I just pulled the mount out before Thanksgiving to put with something else.  The tube is Bird-Jones - I bought it as a closeout without considering the kind of optics it might have.  I think it cost $40 or $50 back when Service Merchandise went out of business (around the time of the Tasco bankruptcy, too).
