A lamp hidden inside an opaque tube. That's intelligent. Just look how well it lights up the room.
The power cord is very attractive too. In the very least he could've drilled a hole for the cord in the bottom of the OTA at the mount.
He even admits it has no switch but must be turned on and off by plugging it in and unplugging it. I swear, a 10-year-old could've done better than this. Now, what would've made it cool would've been incorporating a rotary on-off switch into the focuser, controlled by the knobs. Then at least it would have some artistic merit.
I can rip the shade off of a cheap Wal-Mart clamp light and shove it down a tube too. (And even it has a switch.)
