The only thing brilliant about this is the light bulb!!  :smirk:  Mike

A lamp hidden inside an opaque tube. That's intelligent. Just look how well it lights up the room.

The power cord is very attractive too. In the very least he could've drilled a hole for the cord in the bottom of the OTA at the mount.

He even admits it has no switch but must be turned on and off by plugging it in and unplugging it. I swear, a 10-year-old could've done better than this. Now, what would've made it cool would've been incorporating a rotary on-off switch into the focuser, controlled by the knobs. Then at least it would have some artistic merit.

I can rip the shade off of a cheap Wal-Mart clamp light and shove it down a tube too. (And even it has a switch.)

Looks like a "woman scorned" gave that one the old "Ray Guy Special"!

I am actually tempted to bid on that. An EdgeHD w/ Dovetail bar? I'm sure I could Frankenstein a new tube for it for very little $$. I wouldn't go a penny over $80, though. Let's see what shipping would cost. Gonna be expensive since you have to arrange shipping yourself. :(

You know, from the looks of the two photos, I'll bet that scope was brand-new in its shipping box and found itself under the wheel of a UPS truck or something similar. There is no scratched paint, smudges or anything that would indicate that this scope suffered a direct hit to the OTA. The rest of the scope looks mint. (It even still has the sun warning label attached to the grab handle.) And look how shiny the finderscope is -- like it's never been touched. Wonder how much Celestron would ask for a new tube. Hmmm, Towson's within driving distance of me ...

Has anyone asked if it has all of the optics intact?  Would be a nice scope with a new tube.

Okay, just noticed there is a 25% "buyers premium" applied on top of the final bid price. That plus the quote I received of $112 for shipping! has pretty much killed any interest I had in it.

Love this one:

"In great condition Bushnell monocular scope 50 mm and fully expandable to 5 ft."

Dang. Talk about the ultimate cure to aperture fever. Should I get it?????
