With any luck at all, we'll have better sky conditions than last month! I'm looking forward not only to the star party tomorrow but trying the new final rubberized asphalt coating on Highway 74 on the trip back home (I'll probably stop in Sun City West on the way to Wickenburg to see if the library there has the new "Sky and Telescope.")

Who else will be there?

I was planning on Wickenburg but got talked into camping with friends in the Sierra Anchas instead. The views from Aztec Peak should be wonderful, but Cleardarksky is forecasting cloud cover and poor seeing for tonight. I hope it's wrong!!!

What's the forecast? With any luck at all, we'll just have a few wispy clouds instead of more overcast conditions like last month, so keep an eye on the sky, W7PP, especially if you're coming from some distance away, like myself from Phoenix.

Current conditions in Wickenburg are: 88F, winds are calm.
Cloud cover is less than 1%. NOAA is saying that we'll have "partly cloudy" conditions. CSC indicates clear skies until after midnight. At this time, the high clouds that have covered us for the last 24 hours are mostly gone.
Hope to see you all there!

I did a bit of public outreach in Happy Jack AZ (seeing conditions were not good, 26mm on the NS11 was most I could push it and that was iffy. :p

We're approaching the hot *BLEEP* summer so next month is iffy but I'm game!

June 1 might be a winner, if the temps stay as moderate as we have seen so far this Spring. Stay tuned, I'll query the locals and post a result.

Look for a schedule for the balance of 2013 and all of 2014, to come out shortly. There should be a hard copy (keep in the wallet) along with electronic. Stay Tuned.

It's On!
We will be having a June 1 Public Star Party at Wickenburg. ...Probably Hot, but maybe Not. This will be our last official/unofficial star party until September. Look for a local conditions report mid morning before the star party. Don't forget to bring water to drink, and remember that the crawling creatures are out and about, and the warm temps mean that they are active in the dark.
Hope to see you all there!

Looks like it's on, then! I'll see you out there tonight. I can already hear a couple of cheese enchiladas calling my name at Anita's Cocina. "Jim...Oh, Jiii-iim! We cheese enchiladas want you!"

I may even splurge on a chile relleno.

Anyway, it's shower time, then I'll hole up in the library in Sun City West and look at "Sky and Telescope." And maybe check out the giant jigsaw puzzle they're supposed to start there today.

By the way, something I'd like to look at tonight is Mercury!

Just as well, I can't bring a scope anyway (big ones that is) as the collar bone is still not healed up.
