That will teach you! We were about 70% clear at sundown. The heavy cloud plume moved off but we had streamers in various parts of the sky all evening. Steady air, Cassini division was a piece of cake.

Thanks for the good time at the Star Party. My wife and I both enjoyed the views. Also thanks for the learning curve help! See you all in the fall!

I almost didn't go out there myself, Ron, but after dinner in Surprise, I noticed the skies were clearing okay and I took the calculated risk and drove up there.

It would work for me, especially because I have a medical screening that morning in north Glendale.

As far as I can discern, we're still good. I'll drive out to Sophies Flat tomorrow and post as to road conditions. Remember, during the Summer Monsoon, we all go into a state of hibernation, and sometimes it's a little rough, trying to get up to speed again. I'll try to be there, but I'll be on that big river in Northern Az until shortly before Saturday. Road condition post tomorrow.

As of September 7, Constellation Rd. and Blue Tank Rd. have both been recently graded by the county. They're both readily usable by passenger vehicles.

We'd love you to bug us! Come out and enjoy some nice darker skies away from the freeway lights.

Hopefully that collarbone is healing up nicely. Don't push it; as a couple of my friends put it when I had hernia surgery, "Listen to your body."

I'm planning on coming out. Will probably drag my Pronto out there. I can handle that guy and it needs the glass time anyway. I've got a little 66mm APO I should bring too.

Folks can get an idea how much and how little a small refractor can do. :)

Are the road conditions still good after the heavy rains we had a couple of weeks back, or will they move the party? If I could find out by Friday, that would be great, as Saturday, I'll be away from computers and all for most of the day.

Good point. At the rate we had rain here some of those washes could be in bad shape. I'm thinking of the button hoot one on the main road in.

The washes on the secondary road to the site "should" be OK as they are pretty rocky but you never know.

You'll get a road conditions update tomorrow. Just back from Rio Colorado mile 0 to mile 227.

As promised.....Constellation Rd and Blue Tank Rd are both just a little worse for the last rains, but readily passable by passenger car.
Yep, 10 days floating. Lees Ferry to Diamond Creek. A great trip!

Yup. Saturday night so plenty of time to clear (seems clear now) or for more clouds to move in.

I just listened to my little NOAA Weather Radio and the forecast for tomorrow evening is clear!

I'm going to be busy tomorrow, between the medical appointment, a classic car show at the sports facility on 83rd Avenue just south of Bell Road, probably go to the library in Sun City West, and then, as usual, do dinner at Anita's. See you tomorrow night (and I hope W7PP sees that the party is tomorrow).

Something came up so I can't make the 26th so hopefully I'll see some of you folks in Tucson at the Expo in November.
