Imagine spending time to push your scope onto or close to a DSO and intermittently when you press a Dec button on say a rate of 4 it flys off the handle at top speed! This has been happening, on and off for the last couple of months. I finally tracked it down to the cable between the 2 Dec ports. Wiggling the end where it plugs into the Dec motor caused it to work at either full speed or the set rate. Don't know which pin was the problem but reversing the cable fixed it until I buy or build a replacement.

Ross,
Many folks invest in an RJ crimping tool. Sometimes, just recrimping the plugs fixes many cable problems. If that doesn't work, you can buy a small bag of replacement plugs and crimp a new one on the existing cable. Much cheaper than a new cable.

Well now I'm really in deep. After crimping my new cable and attaching in the darkness, I plugged things in backwards. Dec to HC PORT ETC and blew motor control board. Oops. :-(
