I was able to view a very thin Waxing Crescent Moon (2.8 days old, -7.96m, ~34.5 degrees above the western horizon) and Jupiter (-2.06m, ~23.5 degrees) over the western sunset sky on March 7, 2011 (23:15 U.T.). The sky was a brilliant orange-red color closest to the western horizon with lavender blue clouds above it. Jupiter was peeking through the clouds and the thin Crescent Moon was a ghostly figure in the pastel blue sky.

Carlos,

Most beautiful and impressive capture of Jupiter and the Moon in a very atmospheric scene following a colorful sunset. You really do this exceptionally well.

Frank :)

Eric and Frank,

Thank you both for the compliments on my Waxing Crescent and Jupiter observation at sunset. It was a beautiful scene. I look forward to both of your excellent observations in the future as well.

Such scenes are mostly undervaluated. They are astronomical views which can be enjoyed by everybody, without any instrument. Thank you for that excellent sketch.

Carlos,
Thanks for sharing another one of those beautiful Florida sunsets with us. And that thin crescent is astounding. :)

Michael and Uwe,

Thank you both for the kind compliments on my sunset observation of the Crescent Moon and Jupiter. The combination of the thin Moon, Jupiter and color of the sunset made the scene impressive. The best of luck in your own observations.

Tom and Tommy,

Thank you both for the kind compliments on my sunset observation of the thin Waxing Crescent Moon and Jupiter. I hope that others were able to view this scene as well.
