Over the coming days the purpose of this forum will become much more clear. We, the people involved, are going to be calling on the sharing, giving, teaching, outreach spirit of all of the Cloudy Nighters.

Stay tuned for further updates.

Also eager to see what shapes up here. I run a series of star parties in my city (Geneva, NY) and this spring I look forward to a new mobile star party setup...ultralight scope and a bicycle trailer. I love outreach, and writing about outreach.

Do you need to be at NEAF for this?

If not, then I guess you can count me in also... Current board member for the Rockford Amateur Astronomers.

Just got back from doing a basic astronomy presentation to 55 grade 5 and 6 kids. A very satisfying part of the hobby, if you ask me...

A bit perplexed about this myself. I am not being critical and love outreach but I am left wondering why people are going "WOW!!" or "this is so Cool" or "Sign me up" when no one seems to know what they are WOWing about, what they think is cool or what exactly they are signing up for :D

Aren't there already lots of outreach coordinating umbrella groups promoting local national and international outreach events already?

I know there are a ton of groups, but does any of the groups sport a roster of 50K? Everyone just be patient and let the info unfold.

Not about the equipment man, as long as your out sharing it with others and educating them on astronomy and space its all good.

Definitely curious about all of this. Timing couldn't have been better. I've been starting Astronomy outreach efforts within the local school system here, and helping where I can with WSSP and other events. I'm getting the general idea of what's being unveiled here and looking forward to hearing more. An easy to use network for people to interface quickly through is absolutely the way to go in this day and age.

If you need some tropical representation, count me in. I can try to coordinate any activity with my local group, the Caribbean Society of Astronomy.
