Hi,

last night I wanted to use my QHY5 for drift alignment of my Vixen Sphinx mount. I've installed everything that I could think of (EQAlign, Ascom drivers, QHY5 ascom drivers, ...) but I keep getting the error that the software is unable to connect to the mount. I find this very strange since everything works perfectly in PHD Guiding.

Has someone encountered the same problem and if so, how did you solve it?

EDIT: The version of EQAlign is 2.3.6.

Do you need ascom? I use a Qhy5, load the camera drivers then just simply plug the ST4 cable into the starbook and the USB into the computer, run PHD select the camera type it is "CCD Labs Q guider" for the QHY5 - in the mount selection, select "on camera" and all should work.
Remember that you need to use the same USB port in the computer for the camera or else you will need to load the camera drivers again

Hope that helps Pete

In PHD Guiding everything works like it should. In EQAlign I have problems with connecting to the mount (while the QHY5 is detected without a problem).

I don't know if Ascom is needed, the developers placed it in the requirements list.

Try the simple PHD method of drift alignment - I posted the method here - http://stargazerslou...tml#post1604768

I've been able to get it running after a couple of mails to the developer.

To get the QHY5 working you have to go to the (auto)guide menu and select the config dialogue. After selecting the QHY5 you can guide, drift align, .... with a Vixen Sphinx (and probably every other mount) and the QHY5. A bit counterintuitive to skip f.e. the calibration section but apparently it's the way to go.

@ adamsp123: Thanks for that method. It's definitely a good method but I prefer the "automated" drift alignment of EQAlign.
