Has anyone used the 8" extension pier on the Astro Tech Voyager Altazimuth Mount? Does adding the pier affect the stability of the mount when using a C6? Is the pier difficult to add or remove from the mount? Any other comments about the Voyager?

I got one of the pier extensions from Astronomics at NEAF two years ago at the same time I got the Voyager. Installing it was extremely easy, as would be removal. I had the same concerns as you, but they were unfounded. Last night we were using it with the tripod legs fully extended (and the pier extension, of course) with my girlfriend's 80mm triplet with a brand spanking new Nagler 3-6 Zoom looking at the moon high overhead. The 3mm position of the zoom yielded 187 power and it was rock-steady. All these parts were purchased from our hosts, Astronomics. Thanks, Mike!

I used to use that exact setup (Voyager + extension + C6) with excellent results. You'll like the setup.

I use my TV102 with the extension and have no problems. It's great not to have to get so low to look in the eyepiece.

I have the 18" pier extension for a CG5 ... would/could that work on an AT Voyager? The attachment is just a standard 3/8" thread.
