Last night I also happened to get a sketch of the Ringtail Galaxies, which did show a quite a bit more detail than I was expecting. About a year ago when I was just starting out in astronomy I tried to see this object, but never did. Now it seems like quite a bit of surprise because it was right there!

Terrific sketch, Brandon. I'd love to see a negative image version too.

Brandon,

An excellent observation of the Antennae galaxies (NGC 4038/4039). You have captured the delicate detail over these galaxies very nicely. Thank you for sharing it with us all.

Good job! I tried it many times, but because it's always low in the sky I never saw any detail at all.

Excellent, I think this is an object that I've never observed, thanks for sharing.

Nice sketch! I don't know how dark your site was, but this pair of colliding galaxies looked like a mishappen pair of lungs from the Conecuh National Forest through my own 10-inch. There is another very warped galaxy that is a mess in photos nearby, NGC-4027. It too would show it's weird shape through your telescope.

Beautiful sketch, Brandon. I've been interested in having a go at this galaxy duo, but given my skies I think that'd be a laughable attempt. ;) Great sketch once again!

Thank you for the wonderful compliments:)

And Jay, I wish you the best of luck with your observations of this galaxy duo, and hopefully the weather in your area gets better:)

Clear Skies,
Brandon Doyle
