first go at drawing the Sun. Recently made a Solar filter with Baader Solar film
and observed the Sun with my 80mm f/7 Triplet refractor mounted on an Alt-Azimuth mount.
First low-power view was wonderful. Easily saw sunspot 1195 and a tiny 1196, on the
preceding limb was a bright patch/sunspot which I think was 1193. The highlight for me
was the incredibly large mass of faculae on the northern part of the following limb.
I cannot ever remember seeing the faculae in such a large noticeable quantity before.
Also used a yellow and orange filter on the eyepiece at times. Easter was very warm here,
and how nice it was to be able to observe in a T-shirt for a change.
I can never work out the position of the of the Sun's tilt, so have marked the drawing as
it appeared in the diagonal and moved across the field of view.
