I'm planning to update the firmware for my CG-5 hand control. I'm not able to find any detailed instructions on Celestron's website. Can someone provide me a link if they have it handy? Also, do I need a special Celestron cable to do this?

amys: You will need the hand-controller to PC link cable, as well as a usb-to-rs232 adapter for your pc/laptop. This site should provide you with lots of information: http://www.nexstarsi...om/Firmware.htm

Edit: the cheapest place I've found the NexStar-to-PC cable is at Amazon.com, but that's only because I'm a Prime member and get free shipping. I think the nexstar site has another site they reference, and they even have info on making up your own cable if you are so inclined.
