Now that Teton has closed, does anyone know of another US-based source for GIRO III counterweights?

If not, will Losmandy weights work on the GIRO counterweight shaft? Thanks.

I've been using some Orion Skyview Pro counterweights on my Giro 3. They fit perfectly.

Thanks Dave!

I came across those earlier today & contacted Orion so I could get the bore i.d. The weights looked exactly like what came with the mount but I figured I'd better make sure. Thanks for confirming those work.

My CW's from my ASGT and Atlas mounts both work fine. They are basically the same but the Atlas version has a small plastic insert that can be popped out of the hole.

Thanks Jeff.

Can either you or Dave verify if the 11 lb. counterweight fits as well? If you could confirm either way I'd appreciate it.

Orion gave me an i.d. of 0.7" for the 11 lb. and 0.8" for the 7.5 lb. cw. Not sure why they would be different but that's what the on-line tech support gave me. The GIRO counterweight shaft o.d. is 0.785", so by Orion's numbers only the 7.5 will work. That's the weight I have now, and would like to get an 11 lb if possible, but perhaps I'm stuck with going with multiple 7.5s. Thanks!

Celestron 11lb cw fit fine on the cw bar I purchased from Teton for a GIRO III.

I use two 11 lb Celestron weights on my Giro 3 with a C9.25 on it. Good balance is needed to keep the alt axis action smooth. David

Thank you David. That's the configuration I figured I would need to balance the Mewlon properly. Looks like I will be ordering a couple of them.

Thanks again to all for the input.

My comment on the ASGT and Atlas CW's were for the 11 lb weight.

You'll like it, Krish.

Unfortunately, I sold mine off to fund other stuff. I miss it, but it keeps me from buying another large refractor.

I called up the guys at Tech2000 : http://www.tech2000astronomy.com/giro/

It got here, and boy is it hefty. I'm waiting on the ADM saddles, they should be here in a couple of day -- I can't wait to try it out with my frac.

I will let you know how I like it soon enough. It's not the pretty red that you have, it's the normal silver, but then what's to stop me from spray painting it a custom color?
