Both objects I thought were very detailed, I'm not sure if a sketch or even an astro-image could possibly show what was in the eyepiece.

NGC 6229 had a dense halo around a very bright core. Surprisingly, there definately appeared to be several stars on the edge of the core. The entire thing appeared mottled in brightness, like there were stars there, but my 'scope just wasn't large-enough to reach out and discern them.

And M99 was the night's show-stopper. It had quite a bit of detail readily visible, along with mottled brightness throughout the entire thing. Especially just to the NW of the nucleus of this galaxy. Overall though, it appeared to have a somewhat dimmer surface brightness.

Wonderful! You saw quite a lot of details in M99.

Excellent sketch of M99 Brandon! I'm always impressed by how much you see and record in your sketches but I think this is one of your best. You not only caputed the basic shape of M99 but nicely conveyed the difference in brightness between the core and the spiral arms. Well done.
