The date is set! November 8-11. We will be doing it another year. Hope to grow a bit as well. See the web site Heart of Va Star Party for more information. I will be updating it starting in Feb.

Hope to see you there!

After much gnashing of teeth it has been decided to pull the plug on the HOV Star Party. It has been cancelled because I am relocating to Idaho in August. There will not be anyone to shepherd the event at the camp so America has one less star party to organize.

Many apologies for those that may have already set aside the time.

You may want to update the website. It still shows it as happening.

Thanks for the heads-up. I no longer control the website but will get it taken care of.

What about having something similar out at one of the Wildlife Management Areas (Powhatan or Amelia)?

Go for it! You would need to move it to a period where it did not interfere with the hunting season. But I am living in Idaho now and have no control over Virginia affairs...

Maybe we can have it in Deer Run.

I always though that it would be cool to try to talk to the Nat'l Park service to see if a star party could be held somewhere in Shenandoah Nat'l Park. There is a group camping area in the southern section called Dundo that would be perfect.

We are fortunate here in Idaho to have a friend in Craters of the Moon Nat'l Park. They are very astro friendly.
