Hello guys...I was told by Droid to check this place out so here I am.
I've been taking astro photos with my Canon T3i and just happened across a StarMax 127 for $80 that I'm in the process of cleaning up.

Here's my latest image (best 95 or so of 100 stacked) that I've been working on taken from Girdled Park about 45 minutes away from my house.

Glad to meet everyone,

Jason

Jason;welcome to the never ending star party. And yes we do discuss astronomy here, sometimes, lol.you can scroll back through the thread to find a link to the previous never ending star partys etc.
Check out Lnney and Johns astrophotographs, and you can already see Zacks on the page.

Hello and thanks all!

Jason,

Welcome to BEOTS!

What equipment/exposures/processing did you use for your image?

This was taken with my Canon T3i using the 75-300mm kit lens:
f/5.6
Exposure 1.3s (I have a terrible tripod and this is the most I can get away with)
ISO 1600
300mm

100 images stacked in Deep Sky Stacker, post processing done in Gimp.

...YUM!!!! Any leftovers? Dang it!

I made corned beef sandwiches with Jewish rye bread and also homemade potato soup for lunch today for the family! My son Scott was home from U. of Pitts. for the weekend and I wanted to do something special. Tomorrow it's filet mignon on the grill, baked potatoes and salad for lunch. Then he will be headed back there again until Easter when he will return along with his girlfriend Emily!

Last night I did a friend a favor and rode out with them to deliver a monitor to some friends, now they live roughly 30 minutes south of the city.
Naturally being farmer folk , we were welcomed to set for coffee and a shooting the breeze time, it was fun.
Naturally this time of year there was no where to walk you didnt get sink in the mud, lol.
But.....upon getting ready to leave, I was just stopped in my tracks. The sky was the darkest Ive seen in years, I could actually makee out the constellation of cancer, and the little dipper easily.Naturally I started to point out constellations all over the sky, pointed out where the leo trio would be, and the beehive cluster, etc.
After a while I got the feeling they were all wondering what I was blathering on about.
It was just flat out fun...lol ,and I have an open invitation to bring my scopes out, as soon as the ground firms up some at least.
